This position is responsible for monitoring and validating data release processes, researching and troubleshooting issues in those processes and resulting files, leading cross-functional teams with stakeholders and technical resources to implement new or revised requirements, searching out and implementing automation opportunities. This Senior Analytics Consultant will be mainly responsible for handling client reporting for the Mercer Health Advantage (MHA) and Custom Care Management Unit (CCMU) arms of the Health Management & Advocacy (HM&A) product line. A Senior Analytics Consultant is expected to create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements. -Analyzes complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. -Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences.

-This role is on a hybrid schedule that requires visibility in a listed HCSC office least three (3) days per week.

Required Job Qualifications:

Bachelors’ degree and 5 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics

-including one (1) year experience in data analysis and information reporting relating to healthcare data, including pharmacy

-OR-

Nine (9) years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics

-including one (1) year experience in data analysis and information reporting relating to healthcare data, including pharmacy

Proficient with software used for data mining, statistical analysis, and data visualization (SAS, SQL, R, SPSS, Qlik, Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and Microsoft Excel required, strong understanding of database architecture.

Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise, with 3-5 years’ experience in the PBM/Pharmacy/Healthcare industry or related experience.

Demonstrated ability to interpret large data sets with the ability to interpret and solve complex problems.

Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices.

Takes initiative to solve complex problems; takes an “outside –in” perspective to identify innovative solutions.

Knowledge of various software development processes, including requirements gathering, analysis and design, and development, agile methodologies, and tools and technologies.

Create and conduct presentations to inform and influence, with the ability to think laterally and creatively.

Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.

May lead functional teams or projects.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

* Analytical Thinking: Anticipates the implications and consequences of situations and takes appropriate action to be prepared for possible contingencies; anticipates possible problems and develops contingency plans in advance; notices trends in the industry or marketplace and develops plans to prepare for opportunities or problems; anticipates the consequences of situations and plans accordingly; anticipates how individuals and groups will react to situations information and plans accordingly.

* Technical Skills:  Working knowledge of Alteryx or other flow automation technologies; in-depth knowledge of how Enterprise Data Warehouses function and are implemented; the ability to read and utilize Entity Relationship Diagrams; ability to build out and utilize custom data sources; experience with claims data and large data sets.  2 years of experience in data analysis and information reporting relating to healthcare data.  Python knowledge is a plus.
