This ten-week paid internship is located in Richardson, TXWhat Are Your Responsibilities?
Security Engineering Senior Interns are responsible for actively participating in HCSC’s formal internship program that leverages your skills, knowledge, and capabilities while providing meaningful experience supporting business objectives and member-focused solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams in both business and technical areas, the Security Engineering Senior Intern will contribute to project work, analyze information, and support the development of solutions that address organizational needs. The Security Engineering Senior Intern is responsible for learning and applying specific aspects of the organization's processes, programs, and technologies while demonstrating increasing independence and ownership of assigned deliverables.
This role will also need to:
- Own components of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager.
- Conduct research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations that inform real business decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Support departmental initiatives that improve business outcomes and the member and client experience.
- Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership covering the project, results, and recommendations.
- Maintain complete confidentiality of company business and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, and applicable compliance policies.
What Do You Need To Be Successful?
- Experience with programming/systems analysis is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with application and/or product feature design.
- Knowledge of or experience with application configuration is a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills, innovation, creativity, and out-of-the-box thinking.
- Enthusiasm to enhance your own professional and personal development with a high attention to detail and strong data quality mindset.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and initiative to operate in ambiguous problem spaces and help define analytical approaches.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated interpersonal effectiveness.
- Strong interest in continuous learning and sharing knowledge with peers and team members.
- Passion and desire to learn the ins and outs of the health care industry and regulated environments.
- Practical, well-developed PC skills, especially Excel, Word, Access.
What Are the Requirements You Must Meet?
- Pursuing a master’s degree or higher-level degree with a focus in computer science, information systems, information security, or information technology. Other related fields with comparable experience may be considered.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Available for the full duration of the 10-week program.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this role.
