BASIC FUNCTION HCSC is looking for a dynamic individual to join its Corporate Legal team! This position is responsible for preparing complex documents, agreements and pleadings related to litigation and non-litigation matters; interfacing with internal business partners and outside counsel on litigation to research and gather responsive materials; responding to third party discovery request. Incumbent should have a thorough understanding of the litigation process from case inception to resolution and an acute awareness all other aspects of the legal department's work as well as its context within the organization as a whole. This role is hybrid/flex and requires onsite visibility three day weekly, working from home the other two days. NOTE: relocation is not offered, sponsorship will NOT be extended ~

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department OR Paralegal Certification and 4 years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department OR 6 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department performing the functions of a Paralegal.
  • Knowledge of the judicial system, court procedures, HCSC corporate policies, procedures, and company operations.
  • Strong litigation experience.
  • Advanced PC proficiency to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Keen organizational, analytical, resourcefulness, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent research skills, including experience with Lexis, Pacer and electronic court dockets.
  • Proven ability to review and analyze complex agreements, instruments, documents, and/or pleadings relating to litigation and make recommendations to in-house attorneys and/or outside counsel as to further action to be taken.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with general database ideas (e.g., fields for production, format, etc.) and working to convert legal requests into database terms.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Experience taking cases to trial.
