Under the direction of the Managing Counsel for Labor and Employment, this position is responsible for assisting in providing necessary legal counsel, assistance and support for employment, labor and benefits within the Company; as well as responsible for handling a variety of legal projects and assignments and assisting on more complex matters related to the employment, labor and benefits legal practice within HCSC. Those include topics such as employment practices, EEOC complaints, union and collective bargaining, wage and hour disputes, benefits and compensation, employment due diligence for corporate transactions, and related human resource matters. The role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, country, and local employment laws, and regulations. This includes reviewing and drafting employment contracts, policies, and handbooks. In partnership with Human Resources, and with the supervision of a managing counsel, the position involves advising on training sessions and workshops for managers and employees while ensuring compliance with employment laws. The role also advises and guides managers on best practices related to investigations and provides resolution on other employee relations matters. The position can be based in Chicago, Illinois; Richardson, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Helena, Montana, and Nashville, Tennessee. Please note this role is a hybrid role. This requires in-office hours 3 days a week at the respective office location. Sponsorship is not available for this position.JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Juris Doctor Degree and a license to practice law in the state where the legal department is located.
Up to 3 years of attorney experience after receiving a law degree.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Practice in a law firm specializing in labor and employment law.
Knowledge or understanding of the health care or health insurance field.
